Managing WebSked publications
Use the Publications page in WebSked to bundle related stories that need to be used in an external channel. This feature is helpful for email newsletters, mobile application content packages, and print editions.
Each Publication operates on a recurring schedule—like weekdays at 5:00 am—that determines when editions become available. Your team can pitch stories to either the Publication's general backlog or target a specific scheduled edition, such as Friday's print issue.
On the Publications page, WebSked organizes content according to the following structure:
Publication Sets - organize groups of publications by region, site, etc. If your organization has few publications or they are easy to organize, you do not need Publication Sets.
Publication Names - identify individual publications you manage in WebSked.
Sections - represent individual content areas inside your WebSked publications, such as Sports, Lifestyle, and Politics. You define sections when creating your publication in WebSked. You can modify a section name after creation but not change the section ID after creation.
As an editor of a news organization, you need to create a newsletter publication that goes live at 5 am, when your new edition becomes available on your website.
You access WebSked's Publications page to configure a Newsletter publication. This publication goes live every weekday at 5 am and showcases the most important stories of that edition.
Throughout the day, you review and select the most important stories from pitches submitted by your content team.
You close the publication for pitches every day at 8 pm, triggering the necessary tasks to deliver the selected content to your subscribers' inboxes the next day at 5 am.
