What is the difference between an Arc organization, display name, and ID?
Question
What is the an Arc XP organization, display name, and ID and how do they relate?
Answer
Organization
Arc XP data is contained within an organization(org). Most clients will have a single org.
Each org is associated with a unique display name and ID.
Display Name
The display name is shown on the Arc XP dashboard when the Trending Content module is not enabled.
The org's display name can be changed at any time and can be up to 128 UTF-8 characters in length.
Organization ID
The organization ID (org ID) can be up to 36 characters made up of only lowercase Latin letters (a-z) and digits (0-9). Hyphens, spaces, and other punctuation characters are not allowed. The ID cannot be changed once set.
The org ID is used in various technical contexts within Arc XP to identify org data. The org ID appears as the subdomain that you will use to access Arc applications. For example, if your organization id is thegazette
then you would access Arc at thegazette.arcpublishing.com
.
