Which oEmbeds are supported in Arc XP?
Arc XP supports many oEmbed sources out of the box using the "Social URL" content element in Composer.
What is an oEmbed?
An oEmbed is provided by content sites such as Facebook and Twitter to allow you to embed its content types (videos, images, playlists, and more) on your website. Content providers such as TED must provide an oEmbed service and oEmbeds for its different types of content. For example, in September 2021, Facebook stopped supporting oEmbeds for comments on posts, and as a result, we cannot provide that type of oEmbed.
oEmbeds are an alternative to HTML embeds. This way, your users don’t have to copy and paste HTML from these places; they can just copy a link. For example, instead of locating, copying, pasting, and verifying HTML embed code from Twitter, you could copy and paste the tweet link into the Composer Social URL content element, embedding the article with a preview in Composer using oEmbeds.
How do I add an oEmbed to Composer?
Copy the link to that particular piece of content and paste it into the pop-up for the Social URL content element. A preview of the embed appears in Composer.
What’s the difference between embedding in Composer using the Social URL embed and the HTML embed?
When adding social items such as a tweet, Instagram post, or YouTube video, adding the content through the social URL element is preferred. Generally, it offers more benefits than pasting it in an HTML element. For example, social media elements typically do more “behind the scenes” because they are referents, and it is simpler to search for social media elements than HTML.
