Content Search Integration on Blocks

Blocks are integrated with PageBuilder Editor's story searchvideo searchgallery search, and collections search capabilities through the out-of-the-box content sources. This provides a seamless experience searching, previewing, and adding content to your block directly within PageBuilder Editor.

Using content search integrations

Note

All content search integrations currently only work in sandbox and production environments.

Search integrations can be used when configuring content on your blocks in PageBuilder Editor. They are available through the content-api content sources out of-the-box. See below for guidance on utilizing the search integrations.

Story search

The story search content integration can be used on blocks where the content-api content source is configured. To use the search integration on a block:

  1. Under Block Details > Configure Content > Content Source, confirm "content-api" is selected

  2. Click Replace story. The Stories search overlay will open on the page.

  3. Search by headline, preview, and/or select the desired story to replace on the block. Although the search integrations provide a more seamless experience for setting content on the page, the "_id" and "website_url" fields can still be utilized if that is the preferred configuration method.

Video search

The video search content integration can be used on blocks where the content-api-video content source is configured. To use the search integration on a block:

  1. Under Block Details > Configure Content > Content Source, confirm "content-api-video" is selected

  2. Click Replace video. The Videos search overlay will open on the page.

  3. Search by video name, preview, and/or select the desired video to replace on the block. Although the search integrations provide a more seamless experience for setting content on the page, the "_id" and "website_url" fields can still be utilized if that is the preferred configuration method.

Gallery search

The gallery search content integration can be used on blocks where the content-api-gallery content source is configured. To use the search integration on a block:

  1. Under Block Details > Configure Content > Content Source, confirm "content-api-gallery" is selected

  2. Click Replace gallery. The Galleries search overlay will open on the page.

  3. Search by gallery name, preview, and/or select the desired gallery to replace on the block. Although the search integrations provide a more seamless experience for setting content on the page, the "_id" and "website_url" fields can still be utilized if that is the preferred configuration method.

Collections search

The collections search content integration can be used on list blocks where the content-api-collections content source is configured. To use the search integration on a block:

  1. Under Block Details > Configure Content > Content Source, confirm "content-api-collections" is selected

  2. Click Select collection. The collections search overlay will open on the page.

  3. Search by collection name, preview, and/or select the desired collection for the block. Although the search integrations provide a more seamless experience for setting content on the page, the "_id" and "website_url" fields can still be utilized if that is the preferred configuration method.

Inline Editing on Blocks

The inline editing feature allows PageBuilder Editor users to update specific text elements directly within the preview pane. This provides more flexibility on contextual editing for homepage content and does not overwrite the data on the source content.

Note

Since the source data is not overwritten, an end-user will see that source data when clicking into the content details. For example, if you update the headline of an article on the homepage, when the user clicks into the article, the headline set within Composer will still appear on the article template.
