Managing WebSked collections
Use the Collections page in WebSked to create curated lists of content—stories, videos, and galleries—that you can use to organize and distribute content on your website. Collections allow both manual and automated curation.
Use the Collections page in WebSked to:
Add content - pitch stories, galleries, and videos to create a centralized feed that reflects your editorial priorities.
Prioritize content - manually curate content, customize headlines and descriptions, and select featured images to ensure the most important items appear prominently.
Enable dynamic curation - set content to expire after specified time periods and automatically backfill from designated sections or tags to ensure collection-powered feeds always have fresh content.
Publish to platforms - push your collections to PageBuilder Editor or other external systems with one click.
Prerequisites
To work with WebSked Collections, you must have WebSked access permissions.
As a news organization editor, you need an efficient way to manage and publish curated content across multiple website sections. With WebSked's collection feature, you can organize a list of top articles, ensuring that relevant stories are consistently highlighted.
For example, if you oversee the Politics section, you can create a collection of the latest election coverage, investigative reports, and expert analyses. This offers a more curated experience than a section or tag-based feed.
As you set your collection in WebSked, you can set dynamic curation, select specific tags and sections to backfill your collection automatically and ensure you bring engaging content to your readers.
Procedures
To create a collection manually, complete the following:
Navigate to the WebSked application. The WebSked page opens.
Click the Collections tab. The Collections page opens.
Click Create collection. The Create new collection pane opens.
Configure the following fields:
Name - enter a name for the collection.
Description - enter a brief description of the collection.
Content expiration time in hours - enter a numeric value or use the input steppers to determine how long your content stays in the collection after your team manually adds and publishes it.
Maximum number of content elements - set the maximum number of pieces of content for the collection. Collections can contain up to 500 stories.
Primary website - enter the primary website that can render the collection.
Additional Websites - from the drop-down list, select the websites where you want to circulate the collection. You can also select the Quick Links related to the websites set in Composer.
The websites you selected appear as tags below the text field.
Collection aliases - add one or more aliases to look for this collection in Content API.
Ensure your aliases start with a letter and contain only lowercase letters, numbers, and the dash character (-).
Editorial notes - enter more details about the collection's content for your editorial team.
Story placement - specify whether new content should be placed at the top or bottom of the collection when added.
Autopublish - check this option to automatically republish the collection after your team adds or removes content from it. Uncheck this option so no changes to the collection are published until you manually update the collection inside WebSked.
Dynamic curation - select a query type to dynamically fill your collection with content from the following options:
Tag query - select tags to populate the collection's bottom with the most recent content matching your selection.
Section query - select sections to populate the collection's bottom with the most recent content matching your selection.
Dynamic curation is helpful when your organization does not curate new content regularly. This feature automatically populates your collection with fresh content during weekends or other slower news periods.
Click Publish. A green confirmation message appears at the bottom of the page.
Tip
You can also create and manage collections programmatically. For details on the implementation, see the Collections API documentation.

Pinning content to a collection
When you manage content in a collection, you can pin content to the top. When the collection renders on the front end (such as in a list block), the pinned content appears first.
You can pin multiple pieces of content to the top of a collection.
Consider that pinned content has the following behaviors:
Appears always above manually added content, even when you add content and select the Add stories to top instruction.
Maintains its set order until you change it.
Does not expire based on the collection's time settings; it remains pinned until you remove it.
Follows standard circulation rules. If the content has not been circulated to the current website, it will not be rendered on that website.
