Understanding Photo Center Settings
This is a guide to the Photo Center settings page. The settings pages are split into three areas:
My Profile: See your own Photo Center permissions and which Okta groups you are in. This is accessible to all users.
Organizational Settings: Edit settings that are applicable to all Photo Center users in your organization. Includes source name settings, site hierarchy, field options, and additional settings.
Image Type Settings: Enable or disable image types. You can also configure which fields to show and require in the UI per image type.
My Profile
This area is accessible to all users since it allows them to see which Photo Center permissions they have and which groups they are a part of. (The other settings pages are accessible only to users with permission to edit Photo Center settings.) Permissions are determined by Permissions based on your squad. For documentation about Permissions, see Permissions.
My Permissions
This page lists which permissions on which websites you have access to. The permissions are the actions that you can take.
My Groups
This page lists which organization-defined user groups in Okta, Active Directory, etc. you are in. These groups are used in conjunction with your role to determine what Permission Service squad you are in.
Organizational Settings
These settings are applicable to all Photo Center users in your organization, even if you are a multi-site organization.
Source Name Settings
The settings related to sources and filters under Organizational Settings are deprecated. The filters in the photo landing page are directly mapped to source.source_type in ANS.
Photo Center users are able to further filter on source type. You can filter on source type by clicking the plus sign to see subsections under each filter and select individually, or selecting the parent level selects all the children it contains.
Site Hierarchy
Indicate which site/section hierarchy that Photo Center should use. The selected site hierarchy will drive which fields Photo Center users can choose from for a gallery.
If you have more than one website, you will select which site hierarchy to use.
Field Options
Photo Center allows you to pre-populate certain fields when creating new galleries or adding new images through the UI. Set which fields should be pre-populated when manually uploading images or creating a new gallery.
Additional Settings
Default Website: This is the default website that was set in Site Service. It cannot be reconfigured in Photo Center; it must be configured in Site Service.
Default Latitude: If you are uploading a new image without geo location information, this sets the latitude.
Default Longitude: If you are uploading a new image without geo location information, this sets the longitude.
Date Preference: Left-hand filter for search and in selector too
Date Search Range: Sets which date range is the default in search filters.
Language: This language is used for indexing in Elastic Search. We recommend they use the primary language that their content is in. The search quality for other articles will be suboptimal.
Path to Resizer: Add here the path to your resizer behind the CDN so content producers use the image path that serves images more efficiently. If you do not add a path, then content producers will only have the path to your resizer in front of the CDN which will result in costly calls since the image would be served directly to readers instead of through the CDN.
Publish on Upload: If set to true, all images that are added to Photo Center, through manual uploads or not, are automatically published once they are added.
Gallery Copyright Notice: Sets the copyright notice on new and existing galleries. Populates the top-level copyright field in ANS.
Default Status in Search: You can restrict images only with certain status values to appear in the image search modal. Enter those values here, separated by commas.
Number of Days to Restrict Handout Images: This number is used to determined how soon after handout images are ingested should they become restricted (for instance, the restricted flag set to true). Images uploaded with a distributor category of handout will be restricted this many days after they were added to Photo Center, even images that were added not through manual uploads.
Image Metadata Configuration
Image Metadata Configuration allows you to choose up to four items of metadata to display in the four corners of the image tile. This design update will allow you to view key metadata fields more efficiently without having to go to the edit image page. If you prefer a cleaner view while perusing for your images, there is a metadata toggle that allows you to hide the displayed metadata fields.
