Overriding media metadata
Composer enables you to override metadata field values on images, videos, and galleries. When you are drafting a story in Composer, you can customize media metadata values that apply only to the media in your story and do not modify the content's original metadata.
Prerequisites
Administrators must configure available metadata fields for users to override. See Managing Composer settings for more details.
Scenario
You're working on a story about a local river cleanup and you reuse an image from Photo Center originally labeled "Volunteers cleaning up trash in a city park." While the image isn't from the river cleanup itself, it still illustrates community volunteerism. To fit the context of the story, you update the alt text to say "Volunteers removing litter as part of a community cleanup effort," keeping it accurate to the image while aligning it more closely to the story's theme. At the same time, you do not want to keep that extra information as part of the original media.
Procedures
Overriding media metadata in Composer
To override media metadata, complete the following:
Navigate to Composer.
Open a story that contains media (images, galleries, or videos). Alternatively, create a story and insert any media.

displays on the top-right of the media.

The Media metadata section enables you to select the fields users can view and override when adding images, videos, and galleries to their stories. When users override these fields, it affects only the metadata of the media in the story, not the metadata of the original media. See Overriding media metadata in Composer for more details.
