Arc XP CDN
Arc XP's integrated Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a foundational part of our platform architecture. Designed to delivery content with speed, security, and reliability, our CDN is tightly integrated with our CMS to ensure consistent performance for your users across the globe.
Our platform requires using the Arc XP CDN. We do not support substituting or layering other CDNs, proxies, or third-party routing mechanisms.
Arc XP’s CDN provides the following benefits:
Performance and speed - delivers content quickly through optimized delivery and a tight CMS integration without needing third-party acceleration layers.
Security and DDoS protection - offers enterprise-grade security features, including enhanced Web Application Firewall (WAF) and built-in DDoS protection. These are managed directly within Arc XP, safeguarding your site from malicious traffic and attacks.
Seamless integration - works seamlessly with Arc XP infrastructure, eliminating compatibility issues and simplifying content delivery, management, and troubleshooting.
Global reach and SEO optimization - distributes content worldwide with minimal delay, improving user experience and search engine rankings.
Reliable support - allows our support teams to quickly diagnose and resolve CDN-related issues through complete control of the delivery pipeline.
Compliance and reliability - complies with industry and regional data governance standards and security requirements.
Review the following details about the Arc XP CDN operations:
CDN log delivery and monitoring - Arc XP delivers CDN logs in JSON format at 30- or 60-second intervals to your analytics platform. Logs are generated based on end-user requests at our CDN edge and can be sampled between 1% and 100%. See CDN log delivery with Arc XP.
Firewall and traffic rules - Arc XP allows you to create rules to block or redirect traffic based on IP addresses, Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs), User Agents (UAs), and geographic regions. You configure these rules on a per-site basis. See Web Gateway customization criteria.
IP whitelisting and URL path rules - Arc XP supports whitelisting IPs and configuring URL-path-specific rules. This is especially useful for high-volume API traffic or traffic from known back-end systems.
Rate limiting - Arc XP manages rate limits automatically to prevent platform abuse or outages. Use
robots.txt
hints for crawl rate preferences where applicable.Bot protection - Arc XP supports integration with Akamai Bot Management for advanced bot defense. Simpler protections are available through UA or IP blocking rules.
Routing to alternate origins - Arc XP supports routing requests to alternate origins based on URL paths, including modifying request parameters, headers, or hostnames before passing them through.
While full-path cache invalidation is not currently supported, Arc XP's Experience products use intelligence cache tagging. Editorial updates automatically invalidate cached content by canonical URL, content ID, and collection ID. This applies to PageBuilder and View API content.
Note
Cache tagging does not extend to alternate origin content.
Before changing your domain's CNAME records to point to Arc XP, you can preview your site using Arc XP-provided CDN URLs. These URLs are accessible from Delivery > Sites. See ???.
Arc XP does not support proxying of traffic to or from our CDN. All incoming traffic, Production and non-Production, must go directly to Arc XP CDN edge servers. Introducing intermediaries such as third-party CDNs or bot protection services not provided by Arc XP may result in conflicts, degraded performance, or unsupported configurations.
Examples of proxying (not allowed)
We designed our delivery infrastructure to provide a streamlined, high-performing experience without the need for proxy layers.
The following examples of proxying are now allowed:
Routing internet traffic through another CDN before it reaches Arc XP
Using third-party bot protection services to intercept and reroute traffic to Arc XP
Introducing any non-Arc XP intermediary between end users and Arc XP CDN edge servers
Arc XP includes automatic DDoS mitigation as part of the platform. Our billing is tier-based, and short-term bursts, such as those from attacks, typically do not increase your monthly charges. See Arc XP Security FAQ.
