Themes Settings UI deprecation

Deprecation date: September 30, 2025

To reduce complexity and unnecessary workflow steps, we're phasing out the Themes Settings UI; however, you'll still be able to fully manage settings for Themes through blocks.json. After September 30, 2025, you must deploy all bundles through PageBuilder's deployer.

We've identified a more sustainable and scalable direction; one that isn't reliant on a UI and is designed to deliver a smoother, faster experience.

What's changing

We're making a chance to simplify the deployment workflow. This is not a removal of functionality, but instead, a shift in how deployments happen.

  • Themes Settings UI: Previously, you could optionally use the Themes Settings UI to generate a blocks.json file with site-level settings, like logo and resizer URL. Going forward, site settings will continue to live in and be manage through blocks.json. If you are familiar with the Outbound Feeds deployment process, this process is the same.

  • Bundle deployments: We're simplifying this process by removing the extra layer of Themes Settings UI and moving all deployments into PageBuilder's deployer. This change reduces workflow steps, improves consistency across all environments, and opens the door for deployment automation using CI/CD. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to enhance the deployment experience.

Note

This change does not affect Arc (Themes) Blocks.

Action required

Note

This change impacts deployments only after September 30, 2025, so if you do nothing, your bundle will continue to work as it does now. If you need to deployer after September 30, 2025, you must migrate to PageBuilder's deployer.

You can make this change at any time, and Migrating from Themes Settings UI to PageBuilder Deployer walks you through that process.
