Arc XP domain management and SSL certification provisioning
To ensure your websites are secure and accessible, Arc XP provides tools for managing custom domain names and provisioning SSL certificates. This guide outlines the requirements, limitations, and processes for configuring domain names, requesting SSL certificates, and handling apex domain redirects.
A domain name is the address used to access your website, such as example.com
.
Each organization typically has a top-level (root) domain and a set of subdomains or hostnames or various purposes. Examples include mobile.example.com
or foo.example.com
.
Arc XP provisions a default domain during your initial setup process.
You may configure:
Up to five domains per
siteID
. See ???.Up to two apex domains per
siteID
. See ???.These are in addition to the default domain that Arc XP provides.
Note
You must have an SSL certification provisioned for your root domain before adding custom domain names.
An SSL certificate is a digital credential issued by a Certified Authority (CA) to secure the connection between a website and a visitor's browser by encrypting data.
Before requesting an SSL certificate from Arc XP, review the following guidelines:
Each domain must have its own SSL certificate that Arc XP provisions before it can go live.
Default Arc XP hostnames include SSL certificates, but you must request a new certificate for any custom hostname.
Arc XP provides a TXT DNS record with a token to verify domain ownership. This token is valid for seven days, and you must add the token to your DNS within that time.
Arc XP issues SSL certificates through Let's Encrypt and automatically renew every three months. These are SAN (Subject Alternative Name) certificates that cover all hostnames for a specific organization-site-environment.
If you prefer to use an SSL certificate from your own provider:
Arc XP generates a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for you to submit to your SSL provider.
This is a manual process, and you must repeat it for each certificate renewal.
Arc XP attempts to update your certificate 15 to 30 days before expiration, but it is your responsibility to renew the certificate with your provider.
To request an SSL certificate, contact Arc XP Customer Support with the following details:
Organization name
Environment - specify either Sandbox or Production
Site ID - available on the Admin page
Domain names - list the domain names associated with the site ID
Request type - indicate whether you're adding, removing, or modifying
Purpose - specify whether the certificate is for a website or an API
If you are requesting a CSR for your own SSL certificate, also provide:
Business address
Technical and administrative contact information
Arc XP provisions a default domain in the format: <siteId>.<sitename>.<env>.<web/api>.arc-cdn.net
.
You may request up to five domain names per site per environment.
Note
Before requesting to remove a domain, verify that its DNS entry is no longer pointing to Arc XP.
To request a domain, contact Arc XP Customer Support ticket with the following information:
Organization name
Environment - specify either Sandbox or Production
Site ID - available on the Admin page
Region - for example,
us-east
Domain names - list the domain names associated with the site ID
Request type - indicate whether you're adding, removing, or modifying
Purpose - specify whether the certificate is for a website or an API
Additional guidelines:
You may request only one organization per ticket.
You may include multiple sites within that organization.
You may request multiple environments as long as the domain is listed for each.
All sites and environments in the request are processed simultaneously.
If you cannot complete domain release or SSL validation within 48 hours, we pause the ticket and revert the request to avoid blocking other changes.
After a domain is added, Arc XP provides a DNS verification token.
To validate domain ownership:
Add the TXT record that Arc XP provided to your domain's DNS configuration.
This does not affect your live site.
Refer to your DNS provider's documentation for instructions on how to add a TXT record.
Arc XP supports one apex domain per site in Production. Apex domains are used to redirect requests from the root domain (for example, example.com
) to a subdomain (for example, www.example.com
).
To request apex domain configuration, contact Arc XP Customer Support ticket with the following details:
Organization name
Environment - specify either Sandbox or Production
Region - for example,
us-east
