Why do images created with Resizer V2 display differently than Resizer V1?
Question
How can I make sure that images created with Resizer v2 look the same as Resizer v1?
Answer
Resizer V1 used the Thumbor library, and Resizer V2 uses Image Manager. Each library analyzes an image and best determines what it thinks is the most important part of the image to retain.
In terms of replicating Thumbor's smart algorithm, there is no way to do that. That logic is internal to Thumbor and involves some level of machine learning algorithms that identify important parts of the image automatically that can't be done dynamically in a browser environment.
Our recommendation is to start setting Focal Points for your images, either in Photo Center or Composer, and update your blocks to utilize that focal point with Resizer V2's focal parameter.
