Integrating with Vindicia
Arc XP Subscriptions provides a built-in integration with Vindicia Retain to recover failed subscription renewal payments. Vindicia acts as the final step in the dunning process: when all arc XP payment retries have failed, the payment request can be passed to Vindicia for additional recovery attempts.
For more details on Vindicia's analysis and recovery methods, see the Vindicia website.
Prerequisites
Before integrating with Vindicia, complete the following items:
Create a Vindicia account. Contact Arc XP Customer Support to start this process.
Enable Smart Dunning. Because the Vindicia integration requires Smart Dunning, Arc XP Customer Support must enable this feature for you. Then, see Configuring Vindicia in Smart Dunning.
Configuring Vindicia in Smart Dunning
Navigate to Subscriptions > Settings > Sales > Smart dunning. The Payment retry optimization page opens.
Add a new rule and select Send to Vindicia.
Configure the following options:
Number of Days (Send Delay) - define how many days after the initial renewal attempt the subscription should be sent to Vindicia.
Number of Days Duration - define how long Arc XP should wait for Vindicia to attempt recovery before considering the case closed.
Note
The Number of Days Duration setting in Arc XP does not synchronize with Vindicia. It is for guidance only to help prevent overlapping rules. Ensure that your Arc XP and Vindicia settings align.
Click Save.
Note
Vindicia rules override all other retry rules. If a subscription is in Vindicia's control, Arc XP does not perform additional retries.
Reporting and transactions
Arc XP financial reports include expected Vindicia payments, based on requests sent to Vindicia. Arc XP does not receive payment gateway transaction details from Vindicia. If Vindicia reports a successful payment incorrectly or processes a different amount, Arc XP's financial reporting does not reflect this discrepancy. A record appears in the Subscription Activity Extract with the status Active by Vindicia
.
Tax handling
Successful Vindicia transactions populate tax details through the Arc XP custom tax calculator and Taxamo integration.
Refunds
Arc XP cannot process refunds for payments that Vindicia collects directly. If both Vindicia and Arc XP charge a customer, refunds are available only for the portion that Arc XP processed.
Events and status flow
WebSocket events
All dunning events trigger a WebSocket event that you can use to send emails or other messaging. Key events include:
FAIL_RENEW_SUBSCRIPTION
- emitted after a failed renewal payment attempt.RENEW_SUBSCRIPTION
- emitted after a successful retry.
Subscription status
After a failed renewal try, subscription status changes as follows:
Suspended - when Basic Dunning is enabled.
Dunning - when Smart Dunning is enabled.
Terminated - if retries fail entirely; the termination reason is recorded as failed to pay.
Customers in Suspended or Dunning status can reactivate their subscription by making a payment.
Reporting tools
The Subscription Summary report provides a breakdown of subscriptions by status (Active, Suspended, Dunning, Terminated).
