Setting up Proofreading Integrations in Composer

Composer offers integrations with Tansa and Prolexis, two commonly used industry software tools that check spelling, punctuation, style, grammar, and more.

Proofreading works on only body copy.

Note

If you do not need ProLexis or Tansa, select the Tansa option and do not fill out any of the fields for either ProLexis or Tansa (keep the fields blank).

How to Set Up Tansa

Use the following steps to configure Tansa in your Composer account.

  1. Click the Settings tab in Composer.

  2. In the Proofreader settings section, select the Tansa option.

  3. Complete the following fields. Tansa should have provided the data to populate the fields when they set up your organization to use Tansa for Arc. If not, contact Tansa support ("Tansa Errors and Support Contact Info" section).

    • Tansa company/customer ID - enter the license key that Tansa provided you.

    • Global user ID - optionally, enter your user ID.

    • Client Tansa URL - enter the base URL for your site.

How to Map a Website to a Tansa Dictionary

You can map a website to a Tansa dictionary. That way, you can set up Tansa so that as an editor for website X, you see only the dictionary associated with website X. This is particularly useful if a certain website requires a certain Tansa dictionary, for example, a website based in the UK.

Important - First check with Tansa to see if you are set up properly to support multiple dictionaries for your organization. If you want multiple dictionaries for your organization, ensure that you have only a single organization environment set up for Tansa with multiple dictionaries for your sites within that environment.

After you confirm that your Tansa environment is properly configured, use these steps to map websites to specific dictionaries:

Tansa Admin Portal

  1. Create a New User Group - a new user group will now correspond to your different publications (or websites)

  2. Be sure to assign the right privileges and also be sure to include "Tansa Proofing Client"

  3. Select the dictionary you want associated with the publication (or website)

  4. Create a New User - user will also represent the publication (or website) and not a system user

  5. Select the group that was created

  6. Leave email field blank

  7. Save and return back to home screen

  8. Look for "Username" column associated with the new user you created. Copy that username

  9. Go to Composer > Settings > Tansa Settings

  10. Select "Add Dictionary"

  11. Select in the dropdown which website you want to map the dictionary to

  12. Paste in the "Username" from Tansa to the "Tansa User ID field"

  13. Hit Save

Now as an editor, when you select the website you just mapped, you see that Tansa is using the corresponding dictionary you mapped.

How to Run Tansa

Click the "T" icon in the toolbar; this is akin to clicking the Tansa Chrome extension to run Tansa. If you have more than one dictionary and have not mapped the dictionary to a website (see the above section on how to do that), you must select which dictionary to use. Tansa then processes the story and shows a modal of the results from the scan. As usual, you can select what you want to replace with Tansa's suggested edit. The Composer story updates with your selected changes.

Tansa Usage

Tansa does not update text in HTML content elements.

Do not use the Tansa Chrome integration; the native integration is the most reliable.

Tansa Errors and Support Contact Info

If you have the Tansa integration enabled and your users see the following error: "Tansa is experiencing an outage. Contact your Tansa administrator", then Tansa's server may not be responding or may be responding with errors.

Contact Arc Support through the support portal if you see this issue. We will contact Tansa and work with them to resolve the issue on your behalf.

How to Set Up ProLexis

Visit the Settings tab in Composer to configure your ProLexis integration. Select ProLexis from the radio button. ProLexis should have provided the data to populate the fields when they set up your organization to use ProLexis for Arc. If not, contact ProLexis support.

How to Run ProLexis

Click the "P" icon in the toolbar; this is akin to clicking on the ProLexis Chrome extension to run ProLexis. ProLexis processes the story and shows a modal of the results from the scan.

ProLexis Errors and Support Contact Info

Contact Arc Support through the support portal if you are seeing issues. We contact ProLexis and work with them to resolve the issue on your behalf.
