Clipping a video on demand (VOD)

With Video Center, you can create video clips from your uploaded videos on demand (VODs). Whether you’re trimming a video for social media or highlighting specific segments, the platform allows you to set precise cut-in and cut-out points, giving you complete control to craft clips tailored to your needs.

Note

Only VODs that are encoded have a filmstrip. VODs that are not encoded show a generic blue bar.

You can also create clips of your life streams. For more information, see Clipping a live stream video.

Clipping a video

Use these instructions to create a clip from an uploaded video.

  1. Navigate to Video Center.

  2. Click the video you want to clip. The Video Upload screen opens.

  3. Click the Clip icon vc_clip_icon.png. The Create Clip window opens.

  4. Adjust the in and out points using one of the following methods:

    • Drag and drop the markers to adjust the in and out points.

    • Move the markers using the arrows on the UI. The single arrows move the marker one frame forward or back, and the double arrows move the marker one second forward or back.

  5. Optionally, select the aspect ratio for your video from the Aspect Ratio menu. If you choose a new aspect ratio, you can also remove the blue box to the area of you video you want highlighted.

  6. Optionally, update the Title field to create a unique name for the video clip.

  7. Click Create Clip to save your clip and stay in the New Clip window, or click Create Clip and Close to close the window.

The video clip now lives as a new video file in Video Center. You can edit the metadata and other details of your new video clip and publish it when it’s ready.
