Trying to access the bare domain but it’s throwing a 403 Forbidden
Symptoms
- Unable to access our ads.txt and other static files through a validation tool.
- If you enter https://{domain}.com/ads.txt in to the URL field and click GO you will see the error.
- If you enter https://www.{domain}.com/ads.txt into the URL field it will return the results as expected.
- Inputting the bare domain into the browser without a static file entered shows a redirect working to the www domain.
Cause
This issue is caused by the Apex domain, which is the non-www portion of the URL.
Solution
- Determine if your Apex domain is externally hosted. A third-party DNS testing tool may be useful if your configuration is unknown.
- For domains not hosted by Arc XP, refer to your vendor documentation.
- Should your Apex domain be hosted by Arc XP, create an Arc XP Customer Support ticket for our Delivery team to review.
