Getting Started with Live Video in Video Center
Live video in Video Center relies on Live Events to get your video to the web. Live Events can be scheduled ahead of time or created ad hoc.
Before you start using Live Events, you must ensure you have at least one Live Stream set up, which involves creating a live channel. For instructions, see How to Set Up Live Streams in Video Center.
Note
Your live event must be published before it’s available on your website (or any other platform). Live Events automatically publish when they are scheduled to start.
Event Details
Every event needs a title and blurb. The title appears on video pages, player embeds, and YouTube players (if enabled). The blurb appears on video pages and on YouTube pages (if enabled). You can also add a meta title (for SEO) and caption.
Scheduling an Event
The easiest way to create a Live Event is to schedule one in advance if you can. You can set up a live event to start even months in advance, and you can set them to recur at various intervals.
Recording to VOD
Live Events can be configured to create a video-on-demand (VOD) once they are complete by toggling the “Enable Live Recording” checkbox. In most cases, this will be checked by default. You can also choose to have the recording replace the live event on video pages and player embeds.

Event Metadata
You can add both Tags and Keywords to Live Events. Tags help populate playlists once live events end and turn into VODs; keywords are used to improve the SEO of video pages that contain live events. Both of these are optional for your Live Event.
Event Links
If your website is set up to include Related Links on video pages or YouTube pages, you can add them here. You can also find the URL for the video page in this section, as well as the embed code for the live event player.
Ads
Live Events have a few monetization options available. Server-side midroll ads can be included, but they require your source stream to have ad availability markers. You can specify an ad zone (which is basically an extra identifier you can send through your ad tag that tells the ad server what your stream is about).
If you want a preroll ad to play before someone can start watching your live event, be sure to select Preroll. This can be set as a default setting for your Live Event type.
If your Live Channel is set up to support Server-Side Ad Insertion, you’ll be able to select those as options.
YouTube
If you have YouTube Configured in Video Center, you can publish your live event to YouTube and your website. You have a few options to toggle on and off when creating your Live Event:
Whether to create a recorded YouTube video of your event
Monetize your event on YouTube (or not)
Whether you want to use YouTube’s automated caption service
What privacy status you want your Live Event to have
You can also override the Event title, caption, and thumbnail for YouTube specifically.

Featuring Your Event on the Web
After you create your Live Event and ensure all its metadata is ready to be published, you can publish the live event by clicking Save and Publish.
After you publish your live event, the event is available to use in Composer stories, in PageBuilder, and as an embed anywhere you can use video embeds.
