Configuring your offers
Use the Offers page in Subscriptions Retail to manage products and marketing campaigns that can improve your business revenue.
Prerequisites
To create an offer, you must have completed the following items:
Created offer templates. See Setting offer templates.
Created your products and their prices. See Managing products.
Created offer categories. See Adding categories for your offers.
As the marketing lead for a news organization, you decide to implement a strategy to regain previous customers by building an Independence Day offer that includes exclusive access to political analysis and in-depth political articles.
You enter the Subscriptions > Offers page and set a special price for the upcoming weeks, where existing customers can renew their subscription and expired customers can be tempted to restart their subscription.
You set this offer to start two weeks before Independence Day and expire one day after, giving your readers enough time to evaluate and decide whether to continue subscribing.
Procedures
To create an offer, complete the following:
Navigate to Subscriptions > Retail > Offers. The primary Offers page opens, showing a list of your site's existing offers.
Click Create Offer. The Create offer window opens.
Complete the following fields:
Offer Name - set a unique name for your offer.
Offer Template - select a template from the drop-down menu. If you need to create an offer template, see Setting offer templates.
Click Create. The edit offer page opens.
In the Offer details section, complete the following fields:
Offer page name - enter a descriptive name for your offer.
Template - select which template to use to render the offer. You set these templates in Subscriptions Settings. For more details, see Setting offer templates.
Headline - enter a headline to display on your offer.
Subheadline - enter a secondary headline to display on your offer.
Disclaimer - optionally, add a disclaimer to your offer.
Images - optionally, add images to your offer using Photo Center published images. You can upload three image sizes: large (default), medium (for tablets), and small (for smart phones).
Optionally, in the Custom Variables section, click Add Custom Variable to create variables associated with this offer. Custom variables are primarily for tracking purposes. For example, you might create a
promoSource
variable with the value ofnewsletterSummer25
, which allows you to track newsletter subscribers on a promotional campaign.Enter a Name = Value pair in your offer response.
In the Products section, click Add Product. The Add Product window opens.
Choose an item from the Select Product drop-down menu. If you need to create or edit a product, see Managing products.
Click Add. The product card appears in the list.
Select at least one price in the Price field.
Tip
Use the double-headed icon
to move products up or down the Products list.
In the Campaign Codes section, click Create Campaign Code. The New Campaign Code panel opens.
Complete the following fields:
Campaign Code - enter a unique campaign code for your offer. This code allows you to define specific promotional periods and determine who can access particular offers. For example, you could create a campaign code for a three-day flash sale.
Category - select a category from the categories available in the drop-down menu. To create an offer category, see Adding categories for your offers.
Subcategory - select a subcategory from the subcategories available in the drop-down menu.
Detail - select a detail from the drop-down menu.
Start date - select the date and time to start the campaign.
End Date - select the date and time to end the campaign. You can also select No End Date to keep the offer always active.
Allow subscriptions to - select if active customers can use this campaign code to Start, Renew, or Restart their subscriptions.
Click Create Campaign Code.
Your campaign code appears in the Campaign Codes section.
Click Save to save your changes. Saving does not activate the offer.
Click Publish to activate the offer.
Your offer publishes and starts receiving traffic. All products and prices associated with your offer also get published.
Important
After publishing an offer, limited changes are allowed to avoid affecting customers’ subscriptions.
To copy an existing offer, complete the following:
Navigate to Subscriptions > Retail > Offers. The primary Offers page opens, showing a list of your site's existing offers.
Click the ellipsis icon
> Create a Copy. The Create a Copy window opens.
Complete the following fields:
Offer Name - set a unique name for your offer.
Offer Template - select a template from the drop-down menu. If you need to create an offer template, see Setting offer templates.
Click Create Copy. The Edit offer page opens.
To update more details about this offer, see the field descriptions in Creating an offer.
If you have a multisite organization, you must first filter offers based on the site they are associated with; if you have a single-site organization, your main site is the default. Complete the following to filter your offers.
Navigate to Subscriptions > Retail > Offers. The primary Offers page opens, showing a list of your site's existing offers.
Select a site from the Offers for drop-down menu. The Offers page updates accordingly.
Click the funnel icon
on the top left. The Filter panel opens.
Select the type of items to show from the following options: All, Published Only, Draft Only, or Archived.
The Offers page updates accordingly.
Tip
Using the top-right-hand drop-down menu, you can also filter the items by ascending and descending alphabetical or last updated order.
The paginated menu at the bottom of the page allows you to navigate through your site's products.
You can archive draft offers or restore an archived draft. Yet, you cannot archive a published offer. To archive an offer, complete the following:
Navigate to Subscriptions > Retail > Offers. The primary Offers page opens, showing a list of your site's existing offers.
Select the desired offer > ellipsis icon
> Archive. The Archive Offer window opens.
Click Yes, Archive Offer. The offer disappears from the main offer view and is only available when filtering offers by their Status.
To unarchive a product, filter the products by Archived criteria, following these steps:
Navigate to Subscriptions > Retail > Offers. The primary Offers page opens, showing a list of your site's existing offers.
Click the funnel icon
on the top left > Archived. The Products list updates accordingly.
Search for your desired product >
> Unarchive. The Unarchive Product window opens.
Click Yes, Unarchive Product. The system moves your product to the Draft product list.
