AI Editor 'Core' Features: Translations and Text-to-Speech
Arc Intelligence 'Core' offering builds upon all of the features in the Starter package, providing newsrooms with additional capabilities of Translations and Text-to-Speech.
Setup
Provisioning
Before using the AI Editor, ensure that your organization has a signed contract, a completed legal addendum, and has been provisioned for Core access.
Installing the AI Editor Chrome Extension
You can download the Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. It works on Chrome and Microsoft Edge, which uses Google Chromium.
Permissions
Once AI Editor Core Package has been provisioned to your organization’s environments, you must ensure that users have been assigned the ‘AI Editor’ permission.
From Arc Home, navigate to ‘Permissions’.
Click on the ‘Roles’ top menu item.
Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the user role(s) in which you want to assign the AI Editor permission.
Under ‘AI Editor’, check the allow box for ‘AI Editor’.

Environments
The provisioning, permissions, and AI Settings for each environment are specific to the environment that you are in (Sandbox or Prod). You will need to have Provisioning and Permissions set up in each environment that you want to use AI. If you adjust settings in a Sandbox environment, those changes will only appear on AI Editor Chrome Extension or AI API in Sandbox. The settings will not automatically propagate across environments; you will need to make the same changes in a Production environment.
Translations
The AI Editor Core package includes a “Translate Story” button that allows you to take content in any language and translate it into any other language.
To create a translated copy of an article in a new language:
Clone an existing article by selecting “Clone” from the three dots menu at the top right.
On the ‘Clone story’ modal, you may select a different website, if your translated article belongs to a different site. You can add/remove circulations to your liking on the new article.
On your new article, click the AI Editor icon in Composer.
Click the “Translate Story” button.
Type the language you would like to translate to, and click “Translate”.
Your text will be generated in the chosen language.
From here, click “Copy to Clipboard” to copy the headline and body text and replace them in your article.
Text-To-Speech
To generate an audio file from the text of an article, use the "Audio Article" button in the AI Editor. An audio file and embed code will be generated, which can be easily inserted into your article.
On your Composer article, click the AI Editor icon.
Click the “Audio Article” button.
Select a Voice from the dropdown menu. A preview will automatically play. You may preview multiple voices before choosing. The voices available are based on the language of the article. You can also change the speed if you wish the voice to read faster or slower.
Click ‘Generate Full Audio’.
The audio file will return with an embed code and the option to download the audio file locally.
To embed the audio in your article, paste the embed code into an HTML block in Composer.
